Zone-wise accidental deaths occurred on Indian Railways tracks from 2014 to 2017

The number of Accidental deaths occurred on Railway Tracks over Indian Railways was 25068 during 2014. It has decreased by 0.2% in 2015 over 2014 from 25068. We have seen a decline of -1.9% in Accidental deaths occurred on Railway Tracks over Indian Railways from 25006 during 2015 to 24527 during 2016. The number of Accidental deaths occurred on Railway Tracks over Indian Railways was 12669 during 2017 (Upto June).

The top 3 railway zones in terms of highest rate of Accidental deaths occurred on Railway Tracks over Indian Railways during 2016 over 2015 were South Eastern, North Central and East Central. We have observed 19% increase in number of Accidental deaths occurred on South Eastern zone Railway Tracks from 820 during 2015 to 976 during 2016. We have seen 15.7% increase in number of Accidental deaths occurred on North Central zone Railway Tracks from 751 during 2015 to 869 during 2016. We have observed 7.4% increase in number of Accidental deaths occurred on East Central zone Railway Tracks from 1185 during 2015 to 1273 during 2016.

The top 3 railway zones in terms of lowest rate of Accidental deaths occurred on Railway Tracks over Indian Railways during 2016 over 2015 were Eastern, South Western and North Eastern. We have observed 13.5% decrease in number of Accidental deaths occurred on Eastern zone Railway Tracks from 2494 during 2015 to 2158 during 2016. We have seen 12.7% decrease in number of Accidental deaths occurred on South Western zone Railway Tracks from 856 during 2015 to 747 during 2016. We have observed 8.7% decrease in number of Accidental deaths occurred on North Eastern zone Railway Tracks from 503 during 2015 to 459 during 2016.

The top 3 railway zones in terms of highest rate of Accidental deaths occurred on Railway Tracks over Indian Railways during 2015 over 2014 were Northeast Frontier with 20.4%, West Central with 17.7% and South Eastern with 13.9%. The top 3 railway zones in terms of lowest rate of Accidental deaths occurred on Railway Tracks over Indian Railways during 2015 over 2014 were North Central with -17.3%, North Eastern with -8.5% and Eastern with -7.9%.
