Year-wise Telephones (Wirelines V/s Wireless) from 2005 to 2014

The total number of Telephones – Wireline in India in 2005 was 41424090 and its percentage share w.r.t. total telephones was 42.11%. There was percentage growth of 1.23% in Telephones – Wireline over the previous year. The total number of Telephones – Wireline in India in 2014 was 28498845 and its percentage share w.r.t. total telephones was 3.05%. There was negative percentage growth of -5.68% in Telephones – Wireline over the previous year.

The total number of Telephones – Wireless in India in 2005 was 56949095 and its percentage share w.r.t. total telephones in India was 57.89%. There was percentage growth of 59.88% in Telephones – Wireless over the previous year. The total number of Telephones – Wireless in India in 2014 was 904516293 and its percentage share w.r.t. total telephones in India was 96.95%. There was percentage growth of 4.23% in Telephones – Wireless over the previous year.

The maximum percentage growth of 78.87% in Telephones – Wireless over the previous year was recorded in the year 2006.

Thus, there has been a very fast and steady growth in the number of Telephones – Wireless in India from the year 2005 to 2014. On the other hand, there has been a steady decline in the number of Telephones – Wireline in India during the same period. There was a decline in the number of Telephones – Wireline in each of the year during the period from the year 2006 to 2014 except the year 2007.

During the period 2005-2014, there was decline of 31.20% in Wireline telephones whereas 1488.29% growth was observed in Wireless telephones.
