The government of India launched Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) in December, 2014 for strengthening of rural electrification including separation of agriculture and non-agriculture feeders, strengthening and augmentation of sub-transmission & distribution infrastructure, metering of distribution transformers/feeders/consumers and electrification of villages & households across the country.
Central grants of Rs. 49,420 crore had been released to the States from 2014-15 to 2020-21 (upto 31.12.2020). In 2014-15, Rs. 3,609 crore had been released followed by Rs. 4,599 crore in 2015-16, Rs. 7,930 crore in 2016-17, Rs. 9,002 crore in 2017-18, Rs. 16,460 crore in 2018-19, Rs. 5,767 crore in 2019-20, and Rs. 2,053 crore in 2020-21.
The highest central grants of Rs. 16,450 crore had been released in 2018-19.
