Year-wise Details of Freight Loading and Freight Revenue by Indian Railways (IR) from 2020-21 to 2024-25

The chart presents year-wise data on Freight Loading (in million tonnes) and Freight Revenue (in Rs. crore) for Indian Railways (IR) over the period from 2020-21 to 2024-25. Between 2020-21 and 2024-25, Indian Railways (IR) recorded a cumulative freight loading of 7,371 million tonnes, generating a total freight revenue of Rs. 7,64,186 crore. The highest freight loading occurred in 2024-25, reaching 1,617 million tonnes, with a corresponding revenue of Rs. 1,75,302 crore. The lowest freight loading was observed in 2020-21, at 1,233 million tonnes, generating Rs. 1,17,232 crore in revenue. This data indicates a progressive increase in freight movement and revenue over the five-year period, reflecting operational growth and evolving demand patterns within the railway sector.
