The day to day life of citizen of Odisha has been extremely paralysed by various cyclones over the years. Odisha (East Coast) hit 95 times by cyclones with speed of 34 knots or more during 1891 to 2017; out of which 22 times was being punched with severe cyclonic storm with speed of 47 knots or more during the same period. In the year 1893, four cyclones hit to Odisha (East Coast) with speed of 34 knots or more, out of which one was severe cyclonic storm having 47 knots or more speed.
Annually three times cyclones (>=34 knots) slapped to Odisha (East Coast) in 1892, 1894, 1900, 1912 and 1943; out of which one time severe cyclonic storm (>=47 knots) punched in each year during 1892, 1900 and 1912. In the year 1999, two cyclones punched to Odisha (East Coast) with speed of 34 knots or more and both were severe cyclonic storm having 47 knots or more speed.
Annually more than one time cyclones (34 knots or more) hit to Odisha (East Coast) in the year 1891, 1909, 1910, 1914, 1936, 1944, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1979, 1982, 1984, 1985, 1989 and 2013 with one time severe cyclonic storm in each year with speed of 47 knots or more during the period under consideration.
