Wholesale Price Index of various Manufacture of Textile Products from January-2017 to May-2017

 Wholesale price index comprises as far as possible all transactions at first point of bulk sale in the domestic market and released by Office of the Economic Advisor, M/o Commerce and Industries. The current series consists of 102 Primary Articles, 19 Fuel and Power items, and 555 Manufactured Products covering all important items transacted in the economy. The weighing diagram for the WPI series has been derived on the basis of Gross Value of Output. The price data are collected on a self-disclosure basis from individual private sector firms and official sources. National Sample Survey Office also facilitates collection of price data from organized manufacturing units. The current series of Wholesale Price Index has 2011-12 as Base Year.

Manufacture of Textiles has a weightage of 4.88068 in Wholesale Price Index. The Wholesale Price Index of Manufacture of Textiles increased from 111.4 points in the month of January 2017 to 113.6 points in the month of May 2017. It has shown total increase of 2.2 points in Wholesale Price Index during this period. Various types of Manufacture of Textiles in Wholesale Price Index are: A. Preparation and spinning of textile fibres, B. Weaving & Finishing of textiles, C. Manufacture of knitted and crocheted fabrics, D. Manufacture of made-up textile articles, except apparel, E. Manufacture of cordage, rope, twine and netting and F. Manufacture of other textiles.

Preparation and spinning of textile fibres has a weightage of 2.58154 in Wholesale Price Index. The Wholesale Price Index of Preparation and spinning of textile fibres increased from 103.7 points in the month of January 2017 to 107.2 points in the month of May 2017. However, there have been inter-month fluctuations in the Wholesale Price Index for Preparation and spinning of textile fibres during this period; ranging from minimum of 103.7 points in the month of January 2017 to maximum of 107.2 points in the month of May 2017. Weaving & Finishing of textiles has a weightage of 1.50903 in Wholesale Price Index. The Wholesale Price Index of Weaving & Finishing of textiles increased from 120 points in the month of January 2017 to 120.4 points in the month of May 2017. However, there have been inter-month fluctuations in the Wholesale Price Index for Weaving & Finishing of textiles during this period; ranging from minimum of 119.7 points in the month of February 2017 to maximum of 120.7 points in the month of April 2017.

Manufacture of knitted and crocheted fabrics has a weightage of 0.19296 in Wholesale Price Index. The Wholesale Price Index of Manufacture of knitted and crocheted fabrics decreased from 108.6 points in the month of January 2017 to 107.5 points in the month of May 2017. However, there have been inter-month fluctuations in the Wholesale Price Index for Manufacture of knitted and crocheted fabrics during this period; ranging from minimum of 107.5 points in the month of May 2017 to maximum of 108.6 points in the month of January and April 2017. Manufacture of made-up textile articles, except apparel has a weightage of 0.2985 in Wholesale Price Index. The Wholesale Price Index of Manufacture of made-up textile articles, except apparel increased from 122.7 points in the month of January 2017 to 124.5 points in the month of May 2017. However, there have been inter-month fluctuations in the Wholesale Price Index for Manufacture of made-up textile articles, except apparel during this period; ranging from minimum of 122.7 points in the month of January 2017 to maximum of 124.5 points in the month of May 2017.

Manufacture of cordage, rope, twine and netting has a weightage of 0.09776 in Wholesale Price Index. The Wholesale Price Index of Manufacture of cordage, rope, twine and netting increased from 143.7 points in the month of January 2017 to 145.4 points in the month of May 2017. However, there have been inter-month fluctuations in the Wholesale Price Index for Manufacture of cordage, rope, twine and nettingduring this period; ranging from minimum of 143.7 points in the month of January 2017 to maximum of 146.7 points in the month of April 2017. Manufacture of other textiles has a weightage of 0.20089 in Wholesale Price Index. The Wholesale Price Index of Manufacture of other textiles increased from 116.4 points in the month of January 2017 to 118.4 points in the month of May 2017. However, there have been inter-month fluctuations in the Wholesale Price Index for Manufacture of other textiles during this period; ranging from minimum of 116.2 points in the month of February 2017 to maximum of 118.4 points in the month of May 2017.
