The CAGR of the total registered motor vehicles in India during the period 2002 to 2012 was 10.5%. Among various categories of vehicles, the highest CAGR during the period 2002 to 2012 was recorded by cars, jeeps and taxis (11%), followed by two-wheelers (10.7%) and goods vehicles (9.9%). Between 2001 and 2011, the total vehicle population grew at a CAGR of 9.9 per cent vis-a-vis the CAGR of 3.4 per cent in the total road length.
Highest growth in registered motor vehicles was observed during 1981-1991, when it grew at a CAGR of 14.8% and highest growth in the total road length was observed during 1961-1971, when it grew at a CAGR of 5.7%.
