Value of Major Commodities Seized under the Customs act, 1962 (Outright Smuggling) by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, New Delhi during 2016

Various major commodities named Narcotics, Machinery & Machinery Parts, Gold, Foreign Currency, Electronic Goods including computers, Vehicles and vessels, Chemicals/Pharmaceuticals Chemicals and Misc./ Others were seized under the Customs act, 1962 (Outright Smuggling) by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, New Delhi during 2016. There was a total amount of Rs. 6202.4 crore had been seized under the Customs act, 1962 (Outright Smuggling) by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, New Delhi during 2016.

The value of seized amount under ‘Narcotics’ was Rs. 5129.62 crore under the Customs act, 1962 (Outright Smuggling) by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, New Delhi during 2016. It accounted 82.7% of the total amount seized under the Customs act, 1962 (Outright Smuggling) by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, New Delhi during 2016. The value of seized amount under ‘Machinery & Machinery Parts’ was Rs. 525.25 crore under the Customs act, 1962 (Outright Smuggling) by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, New Delhi during 2016. It accounted 8.47% of the total amount seized under the Customs act, 1962 (Outright Smuggling) by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, New Delhi during 2016.

The seized amount under ‘Misc./ Others’ was Rs. 263.52 crore under the Customs act, 1962 (Outright Smuggling) by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, New Delhi during 2016; which accounted 4.25% of the total amount seized. The seized amount under ‘Gold’ was Rs. 235.2 crore under the Customs act, 1962 (Outright Smuggling) by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, New Delhi during 2016; which accounted 3.79% of the total amount seized. The seized amount under ‘Foreign Currency’ was Rs. 38.87 crore under the Customs act, 1962 (Outright Smuggling) by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, New Delhi during 2016; which accounted 0.63% of the total amount seized.

The value of seized amount under ‘Electronic Goods including computers’, ‘Vehicles and vessels’ and ‘Chemicals / Pharmaceuticals Chemicals’ was Rs. 7.19 crore, Rs. 2.6 crore and Rs. 0.15 crore respectively under the Customs act, 1962 (Outright Smuggling) by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, New Delhi during 2016.
