Value of Imports, Custom Revenue from Import Duties & Collection Rate during 2000-01 to 2015-16

Value of Import was Rs. 230873 crore during 2000-01. We have seen an increase of 6.2% in Value of Import during 2001-02 over 2000-01 to Rs. 245200 crore. We have observed an annual de-growth of -9% in Value of Import from Rs. 2737087 crore during 2014-15 to Rs. 2490298 crore during 2015-16. A Maximum Import Value of Rs. 2737087 crore was recorded in 2014-15 and Minimum Import Value of Rs. 230873 crore was recorded in 2000-01 during the period under consideration.

Net Custom Revenue from Import Duties was Rs. 46569 crore during 2000-01. We have seen a decrease of -15.4% in Net Custom Revenue from Import Duties during 2001-02 over 2000-01 to Rs. 39406 crore. We have observed an annual growth of 11.3% in Net Custom Revenue from Import Duties from Rs. 188016 crore during 2014-15 to Rs. 209314 crore during 2015-16. A Maximum value of Rs. 209314 crore was recorded in 2015-16 and Minimum value of Rs. 39406 crore was recorded in 2001-02 under Custom Revenue from Import Duties during the period under consideration.

We have seen a drastic decline in Collection Rate on Import Value from two digits of 20.2% during 2000-01 to one digit of 8.4% during 2015-16. A Minimum Collection Rate of 5.9% was observed in 2009-10 during the period under consideration.
