Total Import of Coal & its Value from 2013-14 to 2017-18

India has witnessed Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 5.7% in total import of coal during 2013-14 to 2017-18. But, we have observed CAGR of 10.66% in value of imported coal in India during the same period.

Total import of coal in India was 166.86 MT in 2013-14. It has increased by 30.52% to 217.78 MT during 2014-15 above 2013-14. We have seen annual decline of -6.37% in import of coal in India during 2016-17 from 203.95 MT during 2015-16. Total import of coal in India was 208.27 MT during 2017-18, up by 9.07% against 190.95 MT during 2016-17.

The value of imported coal in India was Rs. 92329 crore in 2013-14. It has increased by 13.19% to Rs. 104507 crore during 2014-15 above 2013-14. Annual growth of 16.5% has been observed in value of imported coal in India during 2016-17 from Rs. 86034 crore during 2015-16. The value of imported coal in India was Rs. 138477 crore during 2017-18, up by 38.16% versus Rs. 100231 crore during 2016-17.
