Total Fertility Rate (TFR) in India during 2006 to 2011

Total fertility rate declined by 14.3% from 2.8 in 2006 to 2.4 in 2011. Total fertility rate declined in rural areas by 12.9% from 3.1 in 2006 to 2.7 in 2011 and it declined in urban areas by 5.0% from 2.0 in 2006 to 1.9 in 2011. During 2006-11, highest total fertility rate (2.8) was observed in 2006 and lowest total fertility rate (2.4) was observed in 2011. In 2011, total fertility rate decreased by 4.0% as compared to 2010.
