The Central Government had released Rs. 12,451.96 crore in 2015-16, Rs. 11,441.30 crore in 2016-17 and Rs. 4,722.53 crore in 2017-18 to various states from National Distress Relief Fund (NDRF). The top 5 states with respect to fund released under NDRF during 2017-18 were Bihar, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Fund released for Bihar was Rs. 1,363.47 crore under NDRF during 2017-18, which accounted 28.87% of the total fund released under NDRF in India. Whereas the amount released for Bihar was Rs. 0 crore under NDRF during 2016-17. There was release of Rs. 2,292.5 crore and Rs. 913.04 crore under NDRF for Karnataka during 2016-17 and 2017-18 respectively. It accounted 19.33% of the total fund released under NDRF in India during 2017-18. Fund released for Rajasthan was Rs. 607.77 crore under NDRF during 2017-18, which accounted 12.87% of the total fund released under NDRF in India. Whereas the amount released for Rajasthan was Rs. 990.82 crore under NDRF during 2016-17.
During 2017-18, the amount of Rs. 502.09 crore and Rs. 351.81 crore was released under NDRF for Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu respectively. Madhya Pradesh accounted for 10.63% and Tamil Nadu accounted for 7.45% of the total fund released under NDRF in India during 2017-18. Whereas release of fund for Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu was Rs. 863.81 crore and Rs. 1,813.66 crore respectively under NDRF during 2016-17.
