Top 5 Sectors with respect to India’s Imports during 2017-18

We have seen annual growth of 21.13% during 2017-18 in comparison to 0.88% during 2016-17 and -14.96% during 2015-16 in India’s Total Import. India’s Total Import was US$ 448033.41, 381007.76, 384357.03 and 465578.28 million from 2014-15 to 2017-18 respectively. The top 5 sectors with respect to India’s Imports during 2017-18 were (1) Petroleum, Crude & Products, (2) Electronic Goods, (3) Pearls, Prec & Semi-Prec Stones, (4) Gold and (5) Machinery, Elec & Non-Electrical.

India’s Import in Petroleum, Crude & Products sector was US$ 108658.6 million during 2017-18, up by 24.95% versus US$ 86963.84 million during 2016-17. Annual growth of 23.35% has been observed in India’s Import in Electronic Goods sector to US$ 52890.78 million during 2017-18 from US$ 42878.89 million. India’s Import in Pearls, Prec & Semi-Prec Stones sector was US$ 23808.59 million during 2016-17. It has increased by 43.98% to US$ 34278.91 million during 2017-18 above 2016-17.

We have observed annual growth of 22.31% in India’s Import in Gold sector to US$ 33657.21 million during 2017-18 from US$ 27518.03 million during 2016-17. India’s Import in Machinery, Elec & Non-Electrical sector was US$ 32908.97 million during 2017-18, up by 19.68% versus US$ 27497.28 million during 2016-17.

Petroleum, Crude & Products; Electronic Goods; Pearls, Prec & Semi-Prec Stones; Gold and Machinery; Elec & Non-Electrical sector accounted for 23.34%, 11.36%, 7.36%, 7.23% and 7.07% respectively of the India’s Total Import during 2017-18.
