Top 5 causes of Industrial Disputes in India during 2000-2012

During 2000-2012, Top 5 causes behind industrial disputes were wages/allowances, bonus, personnel, indiscipline/violence and others. During this period total industrial disputes declined by a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of -8% and in 2012, India witnessed lowest number of industrial disputes(276) in last 13 years.

During 2000-2012, industrial disputes due to wages/allowances, bonus, personnel, indiscipline/violence and others have declined by CAGR of -9%, -23%, -6%, -20% and -2% respectively. In comparison to 2011, industrial disputes due to wages/allowances, bonus and indiscipline/violence have sharply declined by 48%, 81% and 88% respectively, while personnel and others have increased by 18% and 43% respectively.
