Top 5 Causes in terms of Un-Natural deaths during 2015

There are two types of accidental deaths i.e. Natural accidental death and Un-Natural accidental death. Un-Natural accidental death consists of various causes like Air Crash, Ship Accidents, Collapse of Structure, Drowning, Electrocution, Accidental Explosion, Falls, Factory/Machine Accidents, Accidental Fire, Firearm, Mines or Quarry Disaster, Traffic Accidents, Stampede, Other Causes and Causes Not Known. There were 336051 Un-Natural accidental deaths reported in India during the year 2015. Out of which 269277 (80.13%) were male, 66740 (19.86%) were female and 34 (0.01%) were transgender. Top 5 Causes in terms of Un-Natural deaths during 2015 were: Traffic Accidents, Other Causes, Drowning, Accidental Fire and Falls.

During 2015, there were 177423 Un-Natural accidental deaths reported due to Traffic Accidents. Out of which 152332 (85.86%) were male, 25070 (14.13%) were female and 21 (0.01%) were transgender. This cause accounted for 52.8% of total Un-Natural accidental deaths reported in India during same period. Age group of ‘18 and Above – Below 30 years’ having highest 33.49% (59415) of Traffic Accidents Un-Natural deaths. During 2015, there were 64427 Un-Natural accidental deaths reported due to Other Causes. Out of which 49259 (76.46%) were male, 15164 (23.54%) were female and 4 (0.01%) were transgender. This cause accounted for 19.2% of total Un-Natural accidental deaths reported in India during same period. Age group of ‘30 and Above – Below 45 years’ having highest 31.21% (20108) of Other Causes Un-Natural deaths.

During 2015, there were 29822 Un-Natural accidental deaths reported due to Drowning. Out of which 23163 (77.67%) were male, 6654 (22.31%) were female and 5 (0.02%) were transgender. This cause accounted for 8.9% of total Un-Natural accidental deaths reported in India during same period. Age group of ‘30 and Above – Below 45 years’ having highest 26.81% (7996) of Drowning Un-Natural deaths. During 2015, there were 17700 Un-Natural accidental deaths reported due to Accidental Fire. Out of which 6775 (38.28%) were male, 10925 (61.72%) were female and 0 (0%) were transgender. This cause accounted for 5.3% of total Un-Natural accidental deaths reported in India during same period. Age group of ‘18 and Above – Below 30 years’ having highest 35.72% (6322) of Accidental Fire Un-Natural deaths.

During 2015, there were 16759 Un-Natural accidental deaths reported due to Falls. Out of which 13968 (83.35%) were male, 2790 (16.65%) were female and 1 (0.01%) were transgender. This cause accounted for 5% of total Un-Natural accidental deaths reported in India during same period. Age group of ‘30 and Above – Below 45 years’ having highest 30.74% (5151) of Falls Un-Natural deaths.

These top 5 causes of Un-Natural accidental deaths accounted for 91.2% of the total Un-Natural accidental deaths reported in India as a whole during 2015.
