In order to provide education to adult, an initiative was undertaken to align the Saakshar Bharat programme with Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) in Saakshar Bharat districts through convergence of existing resources available under the scheme. Under Saakshar Bharat programme 276 districts were covered in India by 31st March 2016; which are known as Saakshar Bharat Districts. There were 408 Saansad Adarsh Grams in these 276 districts covered under this programme by 31st March 2016. The top 10 States/UTs in terms of number of Saansad Adarsh Grams under Saakshar Bharat programme by 31st March, 2016 were: Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.
Number of Saansad Adarsh Grams in Uttar Pradesh under Saakshar Bharat programme was 93 by 31st March, 2016. It accounted for 22.79% of the total Saansad Adarsh Grams under this programme by the same period. Number of Saansad Adarsh Grams in Bihar under Saakshar Bharat programme was 53 by 31st March, 2016. It accounted for 12.99% of the total Saansad Adarsh Grams under this programme by the same period. Number of Saansad Adarsh Grams in Rajasthan under Saakshar Bharat programme was 33 by 31st March, 2016. It accounted for 8.09% of the total Saansad Adarsh Grams under this programme by the same period. Number of Saansad Adarsh Grams in Madhya Pradesh under Saakshar Bharat programme was 31 by 31st March, 2016. It accounted for 7.6% of the total Saansad Adarsh Grams under this programme by the same period. Number of Saansad Adarsh Grams in Karnataka under Saakshar Bharat programme was 25 by 31st March, 2016. It accounted for 6.13% of the total Saansad Adarsh Grams under this programme by the same period.
These top 5 states accounted for 57.6% of the total number of Saansad Adarsh Grams under Saakshar Bharat programme in India as a whole by 31st March, 2016.
Saansad Adarsh Grams under Saakshar Bharat programme in Telangana was 22 by 31st March, 2016; which accounted 5.39% of the total Saansad Adarsh Grams under this programme. Saansad Adarsh Grams under Saakshar Bharat programme in Tamil Nadu was 21 by 31st March, 2016; which accounted 5.15% of the total Saansad Adarsh Grams under this programme. Saansad Adarsh Grams under Saakshar Bharat programme in Jharkhand was 20 by 31st March, 2016; which accounted 4.9% of the total Saansad Adarsh Grams under this programme. Saansad Adarsh Grams under Saakshar Bharat programme in Gujarat was 19 by 31st March, 2016; which accounted 4.66% of the total Saansad Adarsh Grams under this programme. Saansad Adarsh Grams under Saakshar Bharat programme in Andhra Pradesh was 18 by 31st March, 2016; which accounted 4.41% of the total Saansad Adarsh Grams under this programme.
The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 82.11% of the total number of Saansad Adarsh Grams under Saakshar Bharat programme in India as a whole by 31st March, 2016.
