Top 10 States/UTs in terms of funds released under National Rural Drinking Water Programme during 2016-17

In total funds released under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) in India during the year 2015-16 and 2016-17 (as on 28.11.2016) was Rs. 4264.58 Crores and Rs. 2428 Crores respectively. The top 10 States/UTs in terms of funds released under NRDWP during 2016-17 (as on 28.11.2016) were: Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and Odisha.

Funds released for Uttar Pradesh under NRDWP was Rs. 342.97 Crores during 2016-17. It accounted for 14.13% of the total funds released under NRDWP during the same period. Funds released for Rajasthan under NRDWP was Rs. 289.2 Crores during 2016-17. It accounted for 11.91% of the total funds released under NRDWP during the same period. Funds released for Maharashtra under NRDWP was Rs. 165.59 Crores during 2016-17. It accounted for 6.82% of the total funds released under NRDWP during the same period. Funds released for West Bengal under NRDWP was Rs. 153.7 Crores during 2016-17. It accounted for 6.33% of the total funds released under NRDWP during the same period. Funds released for Karnataka under NRDWP was Rs. 137.38 Crores during 2016-17. It accounted for 5.66% of the total funds released under NRDWP during the same period.

These top 5 states accounted for 44.85% of the total funds released under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) in India as a whole during the year 2016-17 (as on 28.11.2016).

Funds released under NRDWP for Madhya Pradesh was Rs. 136.7 Crores during 2016-17, which accounted 5.63% of the total funds released under NRDWP during the same period. Funds released under NRDWP for Gujarat was Rs. 118.37 Crores during 2016-17, which accounted 4.88% of the total funds released under NRDWP during the same period. Funds released under NRDWP for Jammu & Kashmir was Rs. 113.73 Crores during 2016-17, which accounted 4.68% of the total funds released under NRDWP during the same period. Funds released under NRDWP for Assam was Rs. 107.28 Crores during 2016-17, which accounted 4.42% of the total funds released under NRDWP during the same period. Funds released under NRDWP for Odisha was Rs. 96.84 Crores during 2016-17, which accounted 3.99% of the total funds released under NRDWP during the same period.

The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 68.44% of the total funds released under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) in India as a whole during the year 2016-17 (as on 28.11.2016).
