Top 10 States/UTs in terms of expenditure incurred under National Rural Drinking Water Programme during 2016-17

Total expenditure incurred under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) in India during the year 2015-16 and 2016-17 (as on 28.11.2016) were Rs. 5315.75 Crores and Rs. 1989.78 Crores respectively. The top 10 States/UTs in terms of expenditure incurred under NRDWP during 2016-17 (as on 28.11.2016) were: Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Gujarat, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Assam.

Expenditure incurred in Rajasthan under NRDWP was Rs. 206.93 Crores during 2016-17. It accounted for 10.4% of the total expenditure incurred under NRDWP during the same period. Expenditure incurred in Maharashtra under NRDWP was Rs. 204.69 Crores during 2016-17. It accounted for 10.29% of the total expenditure incurred under NRDWP during the same period. Expenditure incurred in Uttar Pradesh under NRDWP was Rs. 171.19 Crores during 2016-17. It accounted for 8.6% of the total expenditure incurred under NRDWP during the same period. Expenditure incurred in Bihar under NRDWP was Rs. 162.58 Crores during 2016-17. It accounted for 8.17% of the total expenditure incurred under NRDWP during the same period. Expenditure incurred in Karnataka under NRDWP was Rs. 153.07 Crores during 2016-17. It accounted for 7.69% of the total expenditure incurred under NRDWP during the same period.

These top 5 states accounted for 45.15% of the total expenditure incurred under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) in India as a whole during the year 2016-17 (as on 28.11.2016).

Expenditure incurred under NRDWP in Gujarat was Rs. 118.45 Crores during 2016-17, which accounted 5.95% of the total expenditure incurred under NRDWP during the same period. Expenditure incurred under NRDWP in West Bengal was Rs. 103.99 Crores during 2016-17, which accounted 5.23% of the total expenditure incurred under NRDWP during the same period. Expenditure incurred under NRDWP in Madhya Pradesh was Rs. 94.31 Crores during 2016-17, which accounted 4.74% of the total expenditure incurred under NRDWP during the same period. Expenditure incurred under NRDWP in Jammu & Kashmir was Rs. 83.85 Crores during 2016-17, which accounted 4.21% of the total expenditure incurred under NRDWP during the same period. Expenditure incurred under NRDWP in Assam was Rs. 77.63 Crores during 2016-17, which accounted 3.9% of the total expenditure incurred under NRDWP during the same period.

The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 69.19% of the total expenditure incurred under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) in India as a whole during the year 2016-17 (as on 28.11.2016).
