Top 10 States/UTs in Consumer Price Index (CPI) as of May 2017

Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures changes over time in general level of prices of goods and services that households acquire for the purpose of consumption. For construction of CPI numbers, two requisite components are weighing diagrams (consumption patterns) and price data collected at regular intervals. The data refers to State/UT wise Consumer Price Index with base year 2012 =100.

The Top 10 States/UTs in terms of Consumer Price Index (CPI) as of May 2017 were: Daman and Diu, Sikkim, Tripura, Manipur, Nagaland, Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Orissa.

CPI for Daman and Diu was 145.6 in May 2017. It increased from 136.7 in May 2016, exhibiting an increase of 8.9 points in CPI during the period from May 2016 to May 2017. CPI for Sikkim was 139.1 in May 2017. It increased from 134.5 in May 2016, exhibiting an increase of 4.6 points in CPI during the period from May 2016 to May 2017. CPI for Tripura was 138.5 in May 2017. It increased from 134 in May 2016, exhibiting an increase of 4.5 points in CPI during the period from May 2016 to May 2017.

CPI for Manipur was 138.4 in May 2017. It increased from 120.8 in May 2016, exhibiting an increase of 17.6 points in CPI during the period from May 2016 to May 2017. CPI for Nagaland was 137.2 in May 2017. It increased from 133.6 in May 2016, exhibiting an increase of 3.6 points in CPI during the period from May 2016 to May 2017.

Karnataka had CPI of 136.9 in May 2017, showing an increase of 2.6 points in CPI over May 2016. Jammu and Kashmir had CPI of 135.6 in May 2017, showing an increase of 8.3 points in CPI over May 2016. Andhra Pradesh had CPI of 135.4 in May 2017, showing an increase of 1.2 points in CPI over May 2016. Kerala had CPI of 135.2 in May 2017, showing an increase of 5.2 points in CPI over May 2016. Orissa had CPI of 134 in May 2017, showing an increase of 0.6 points in CPI over May 2016.
