Top 10 States/UTs in Consumer Price Index (CPI) as of May 2016

Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures changes over time in general level of prices of goods and services that households acquire for the purpose of consumption. For construction of CPI numbers, two requisite components are weighing diagrams (consumption patterns) and price data collected at regular intervals. The data refers to State/UT wise Consumer Price Index with base year 2012 =100.

CPI for Daman and Diu was 136.7 in May 2016. It increased from 135.8 in January 2016, exhibiting an increase of 0.9 points in CPI during the period from January 2016 to May 2016. CPI for Sikkim was 134.5 in May 2016. It increased from 131.6 in January 2016, exhibiting an increase of 2.9 points in CPI during the period from January 2016 to May 2016. CPI for Karnataka was 134.3 in May 2016. It increased from 131.8 in January 2016, exhibiting an increase of 2.5 points in CPI during the period from January 2016 to May 2016.

CPI for Andhra Pradesh was 134.2 in May 2016. It increased from 131.4 in January 2016, exhibiting an increase of 2.8 points in CPI during the period from January 2016 to May 2016. CPI for Meghalaya was 134.1 in May 2016. It decreased from 134.2 in January 2016, exhibiting a decrease of -0.1 points in CPI during the period from January 2016 to May 2016.

Tripura had CPI of 134 in May 2016, showing an increase of 1.4 points in CPI over January 2016. Nagaland had CPI of 133.6 in May 2016, showing an increase of 3.3 points in CPI over January 2016. Orissa had CPI of 133.4 in May 2016, showing an increase of 3.5 points in CPI over January 2016. Chhattisgarh had CPI of 133.3 in May 2016, showing an increase of 2 points in CPI over January 2016. Pondicherry had CPI of 131.6 in May 2016, showing an increase of 1.5 points in CPI over January 2016.
