Top 10 States/UTs in Consumer Price Index (CPI) as of August 2016

Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures changes over time in general level of prices of goods and services that households acquire for the purpose of consumption. For construction of CPI numbers, two requisite components are weighing diagrams (consumption patterns) and price data collected at regular intervals. The data refers to State/UT wise Consumer Price Index with base year 2012 =100.

CPI for Sikkim was 138.7 in August 2016. It increased from 131.6 in January 2016, exhibiting an increase of 7.1 points in CPI during the period from January 2016 to August 2016.

CPI for Daman and Diu was 137.4 in August 2016. It increased from 135.8 in January 2016, exhibiting an increase of 1.6 points in CPI during the period from January 2016 to August 2016.CPI for Tripura was 136.5 in August 2016. It increased from 132.6 in January 2016, exhibiting an increase of 3.9 points in CPI during the period from January 2016 to August 2016.

CPI for Orissa was 136.2 in August 2016. It increased from 129.9 in January 2016, exhibiting an increase of 6.3 points in CPI during the period from January 2016 to August 2016.CPI for Chhattisgarh was 135.6 in August 2016. It increased from 131.3 in January 2016, exhibiting an increase of 4.3 points in CPI during the period from January 2016 to August 2016.

Karnataka had CPI of 135.3 in August 2016, showing an increase of 3.5 points in CPI over January 2016. Andhra Pradesh had CPI of 135.1 in August 2016, showing an increase of 3.7 points in CPI over January 2016. Nagaland had CPI of 134.3 in August 2016, showing an increase of 4 points in CPI over January 2016. Bihar had CPI of 134.1 in August 2016, showing an increase of 4.9 points in CPI over January 2016. Rajasthan had CPI of 134 in August 2016, showing an increase of 6.8 points in CPI over January 2016.
