Top 10 States with respect to Road Length Completed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana during 2017-18

The objective of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is to provide connectivity, by way of an All-weather Road to the eligible unconnected Habitations in the rural areas with a population of 500 persons and above (Census 2001) in Plain areas and 250 persons and above (Census 2001) in Special Category States (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand), the desert Areas (as identified in the Desert Development Programme), the Tribal (Schedule V) areas and selected Tribal and Backward Districts (as identified by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Planning Commission). For most intensive LWE blocks as identified by Ministry of Home Affairs the unconnected habitations with population 100 and above (Census 2001) is eligible to provide all weather roads under PMGSY.

The top 10 states with respect to completion of road length under PMGSY during 2017-18 (upto Feb, 2018) were Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand.

The road length completed in Odisha was 4,844.47 km (69%) under PMGSY during 2017-18 (upto Feb, 2018); out of 7,000 km target for 2017-18. The target of road length completion under PMGSY was 5,200 km for Madhya Pradesh during 2017-18; out of which 4,147.12 km (80%) had been completed upto February 2018. The road length completed in Bihar was 3,188.92 km (57%) under PMGSY during 2017-18 (upto Feb, 2018); out of 5,600 km target for 2017-18.

The target of road length completion under PMGSY was 4,500 km for Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh each during 2017-18. Out of which 3,130.13 km (70%) and 2,697.62 km (60%) had been completed in Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh respectively under PMGSY during 2017-18 (upto Feb 2018).

The road length completed under PMGSY was 2,235.95 km (70%), 1,698.49 km (49%), 1,567.94 km (92%), 1,397.4 km (78%) and 1,335.42 km (89%) in Rajasthan, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand respectively during 2017-18 (upto Feb, 2018).
