There were 47,635 children rescued/ withdrawn from work, rehabilitated and mainstreamed under National Child Labour Project (NCLP) scheme from India in 2017-18. It has increased by 5.56% to 50,284 during 2018-19 above 2017-18. The top 10 states with respect to children rescued/withdrawn from work, rehabilitated and mainstreamed under NCLP scheme during 2018-19 were West Bengal, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Telangana, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh.
The number of child labours rescued/ withdrawn from work, rehabilitated and mainstreamed under NCLP scheme from West Bengal was 17,137 during 2018-19, down by -4.26% against 17,899 during 2017-18. We have seen annual growth of 54.7% in children rescued/ withdrawn from work, rehabilitated and mainstreamed under NCLP scheme from Maharashtra to 8,122 during 2018-19 from 5,250 during 2017-18. There were 8,020 and 0 children rescued/ withdrawn from work, rehabilitated and mainstreamed under NCLP scheme from Uttar Pradesh in 2018-19 and 2017-18 respectively. West Bengal, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh accounted for 34.08%, 16.15% and 15.95% respectively of the total child labours rescued/ withdrawn from work, rehabilitated and mainstreamed under NCLP scheme from India during 2018-19.
There were 4,910 and 4,562 children rescued/ withdrawn from work, rehabilitated and mainstreamed under NCLP scheme from Madhya Pradesh and Assam respectively during 2018-19. Madhya Pradesh accounted for 9.76% and Assam accounted for 9.07% of the total child labours rescued/ withdrawn from work, rehabilitated and mainstreamed under NCLP scheme from India during 2018-19.
During 2018-19, the number of children rescued/ withdrawn from work, rehabilitated and mainstreamed under NCLP scheme from Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Telangana, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh was 2,534, 1,225, 935, 915 and 778 respectively during 2018-19.
