Top 10 States/UTs with respect to Pharmacists in Position at PHCs in Urban Areas As on 31st March 2019

As on 31st March 2019, there were 3,549 (89.37%) pharmacists in position at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in urban areas in India, out of sanctioned strength of 3,971 pharmacists. The top 10 States/UTs with respect to pharmacists in position at PHCs in urban areas as on 31.03.2019 were Delhi, Karnataka, West Bengal, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Telangana, Bihar, Kerala and Rajasthan.

The number of pharmacists in position at PHCs in urban areas in Delhi was 556 as on 31st March 2019, which accounted 15.67% of the total pharmacists in position at PHCs in urban areas in India. There were 435 pharmacists in position at PHCs in urban areas in Karnataka as on 31.03.2019. It accounted 12.26% of the total pharmacists in position at PHCs in urban areas in India as on the same period. The number of pharmacists in position at PHCs in urban areas in West Bengal was 367 as on 31/03/2019, which accounted 10.34% of the total pharmacists in position at PHCs in urban areas in India.

There were 359 and 315 pharmacists in position at PHCs in urban areas in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu respectively as on 31st March 2019. Gujarat accounted for 10.12% and Tamil Nadu accounted for 8.88% of the total pharmacists in position at PHCs in urban areas in India as on 31.03.2019.

As on 31st March 2019, the number of pharmacists in position at PHCs in urban areas in Maharashtra, Telangana, Bihar, Kerala and Rajasthan was 240, 186, 149, 126 and 125 respectively.
