There was 52947.71 km of ongoing work of National Highway projects in India as on 31st March 2019, which cost was Rs. 617641.26 crore. The top 10 States/UTs with respect to length of under construction of National Highway projects as on 31st March, 2019 were Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh.
The length of ongoing work of National Highway projects in Maharashtra was 9450.54 km as on 31-03-2019, which accounted 17.85% of the total length of under construction of National Highway projects in India. There was 4154.94 km of ongoing work of National Highway projects in Rajasthan as on 31st March 2019. It accounted 7.85% of the total length of under construction of National Highway projects in India as on the same period. The length of ongoing work of National Highway projects in Uttar Pradesh was 3637.42 km as on 31-03-2019, which accounted 6.87% of the total length of under construction National Highway projects in India.
As on 31st March 2019, there was 3393.55 km and 3156.28 km of ongoing work of National Highway projects in Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh respectively. Karnataka accounted for 6.41% and Madhya Pradesh accounted for 5.96% of the total length of under construction of National Highway projects in India as on 31-03-2019.
The length of ongoing work of National Highway projects in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh was 2763.12, 2761.94, 2500.93, 2447.21 and 2199.65 km respectively as on 31st March 2019.
These aforementioned top 10 states accounted for 68.87% of the total length of under construction of National Highway projects in India as a whole as on 31st March 2019.
