Top 10 States/UTs with respect to Hospitalizations in Private Hospitals under AB-PMJAY As on 19th June 2019

Ayushman Bharat Yojana comprises of two components namely (i) Provision of Comprehensive Primary Healthcare (CPHC) through Ayushman Bharat – Health and Wellness Centers (AB- HWC), and (ii) Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB- PMJAY).

Under AB-PMJAY, health coverage up to Rs. 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary hospitalization to the entitled beneficiaries as per Socio Economic Caste Census Database is being provided. As on 19th June 2019, the total number of hospital admissions under Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) was 29,35,313; out of which 16,97,117 (57.82%) hospitalizations are in private hospitals and 12,38,196 (42.18%) in public hospitals.

The top 10 States/UTs in terms of number of hospitalizations in private hospitals under AB-PMJAY as on 19th June 2019 were Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Uttarakhand.

The number of hospital admissions in private hospitals in Chhattisgarh was 411814 under AB-PMJAY as on 19th June 2019, which accounted 24.27% of the total hospitalizations in private hospitals under AB-PMJAY in India. There were 379379 hospitalizations in private hospitals in Gujarat under AB-PMJAY as on 19.06.2019. It accounted 22.35% of the total hospitalizations in private hospitals under AB-PMJAY in India as on the same period. The number of hospital admissions in private hospitals in Jharkhand was 156760 under AB-PMJAY as on 19th June 2019, which accounted 9.24% of the total hospitalizations in private hospitals under AB-PMJAY in India.

There were 131557 and 120473 hospitalizations in private hospitals in Kerala and Tamil Nadu respectively under AB-PMJAY as on 19.06.2019. Kerala accounted for 7.75% and Tamil Nadu accounted for 7.1% of the total hospitalizations in private hospitals under AB-PMJAY in India as on 19th June 2019.

The number of hospitalizations in private hospitals in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Uttarakhand was 107977, 97863, 89987, 65502 and 30472 respectively under AB-PMJAY as on 19th June 2019.

The aforementioned top 10 states accounted for 93.79% of the total hospital admissions in private hospitals under AB-PMJAY in India as a whole as on 19.06.2019.
