Total funds allocated for maintenance and repair of National Highways (NHs) in India was Rs. 987.1 crore during 2019-20. The top 10 States/UTs with respect to funds allocated for maintenance and repair of NHs during 2019-20 were Maharashtra, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Gujarat.
The amount of Rs. 226.8 crore was allocated for maintenance & repair of NHs in Maharashtra during 2019-20, which accounted 21.45% of the total funds allocated for maintenance & repair of NHs in India. There was allocation of Rs. 84.67 crore for maintenance & repair of NHs in Mizoram during 2019-20. It accounted 8.03% of the total funds allocated for maintenance & repair of NHs in India during the same period. The funds allocated for maintenance & repair of NHs in Meghalaya was Rs. 64.41 crore during 2019-20, which accounted 4.26% of the total funds allocated for maintenance & repair of NHs in India.
There was allocation of Rs. 52.11 and 39.39 crore for maintenance & repair of NHs in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh respectively during 2019-20. Kerala accounted for 1.89% and Andhra Pradesh accounted for 1.14% of the total funds allocated for maintenance & repair of NHs in India during 2019-20.
During 2019-20, the funds allocated for maintenance & repair of NHs in Assam, Nagaland, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Gujarat was Rs. 33.55, 33.37, 29.47, 24.71 and 23.6 crore respectively.
