Top 10 States/UTs with respect to Dental Surgeons at Primary Health Centres in Rural Areas As on 31st March 2019

As on 31st March 2019, there were 1,152 dental surgeons in position at primary health centres (PHCs) in rural areas of India. The top 10 States/UTs with respect to dental surgeons in position at PHCs in rural areas as on 31.03.2019 were Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Maharashtra, Tripura, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh.

The number of dental surgeons in position at PHCs in rural areas of Haryana was 312 as on 31st March 2019, which accounted 27.08% of the total dental surgeons at PHCs in rural areas of India. There were 295 dental surgeons in position at PHCs in rural areas of Jammu & Kashmir as on 31/03/2020. It accounted 25.61% of the total dental surgeons at PHCs in rural areas of India as on the same period. The number of dental surgeons in position at PHCs in rural areas of Assam was 161 as on 31.03.2019, which accounted 13.98% of the total dental surgeons at PHCs in rural areas of India.

There were 60 and 58 dental surgeons in position at PHCs in rural areas of Telangana and Himachal Pradesh respectively as on 31st March 2019. Telangana accounted for 5.21% and Himachal Pradesh accounted for 5.03% of the total dental surgeons at PHCs in rural areas of India as on 31/03/2020.

As on 31st March 2019, the number of dental surgeons in position at PHCs in rural areas of Manipur, Maharashtra, Tripura, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh was 58, 42, 39, 35 and 20 respectively as on 31st March 2019. These aforementioned top 10 states accounted for 93.75% of the total dental surgeons in position at PHCs in rural areas of India as a whole as on 31.03.2019.
