Top 10 States/UTs with respect to Dental Surgeons at Community Health Centres in Rural Areas As on 31st March 2019

There were 1,920 (83.22%) dental surgeons in position at community health centres (CHCs) in rural areas of India as on 31st March 2019, out of sanctioned strength of 2,307. The top 10 States/UTs with respect to dental surgeons in position at CHCs in rural areas as on 31.03.2019 were Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Gujarat, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Telangana.

The number of dental surgeons in position at CHCs in rural areas of Uttar Pradesh was 434 as on 31st March 2019, which accounted 22.6% of the total dental surgeons at CHCs in rural areas of India. There were 276 dental surgeons in position at CHCs in rural areas of Odisha as on 31/03/2020. It accounted 14.38% of the total dental surgeons at CHCs in rural areas of India as on the same period. The number of dental surgeons in position at CHCs in rural areas of Gujarat was 265 as on 31.03.2019, which accounted 13.8% of the total dental surgeons at CHCs in rural areas of India.

There were 187 and 161 dental surgeons in position at CHCs in rural areas of Rajasthan and West Bengal respectively as on 31st March 2019. Rajasthan accounted for 9.74% and West Bengal accounted for 8.39% of the total dental surgeons at CHCs in rural areas of India as on 31/03/2020.

As on 31st March 2019, the number of dental surgeons in position at CHCs in rural areas of Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Telangana was 124, 89, 87, 56 and 38 respectively. These aforementioned top 10 states accounted for 89.43% of the total dental surgeons in position at CHCs in rural areas of India as a whole as on 31.03.2019.
