The length of ongoing work of National Highway projects in India was 52947.71 km as on 31st March 2019, which cost was Rs. 617641.26 crore. The top 10 States/UTs in terms of cost of under construction of National Highway projects as on 31st March, 2019 were Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Odisha.
The cost of ongoing work of National Highway projects in Maharashtra was Rs. 105306.24 crore as on 31-03-2019, which accounted 17.05% of the total cost of under construction of National Highway projects in India. There was ongoing work of Rs. 55388.84 crore of National Highway projects in Uttar Pradesh as on 31st March 2019. It accounted 8.97% of the total cost of under construction of National Highway projects in India as on the same period. The cost of ongoing work of National Highway projects in Karnataka was Rs. 35661.13 crore as on 31-03-2019, which accounted 5.77% of the total cost of under construction of National Highway projects in India.
As on 31st March 2019, there was ongoing work of Rs. 33674.8 crore and Rs. 30255.65 crore of National Highway projects in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat respectively. Tamil Nadu accounted for 5.45% and Gujarat accounted for 4.9% of the total cost of under construction of National Highway projects in India as on 31-03-2019.
The cost of ongoing work of National Highway projects in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Odisha was Rs. 29415.19, 29040.18, 27663.84, 25772.8 and 25294.9 crore respectively as on 31st March 2019.
These aforesaid top 10 states accounted for 64.35% of the total cost of under construction of National Highway projects in India as a whole as on 31st March 2019.
