Top 10 States/UTs in terms of Funds released under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) during 2017-18

To ensure survival, protection and empowerment of the girl child, Government of India has announced Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative that aims to generate awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services intended for girls in India. The top 10 States/UTs with respect to funds released under BBBP during 2017-18 were Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi.

Amount of Rs. 601.755 lakhs was released for Uttar Pradesh under BBBP during 2017-18, which accounted 18.13% of the total fund released in India under BBBP. There was a fund release of Rs. 510.99465 lakhs for Punjab under BBBP during 2017-18. It accounted 15.4% of the total fund released in India under BBBP during the same period. Fund released for Haryana was Rs. 381.7374 lakhs under BBBP during 2017-18, which accounted 11.5% of the total fund released in India under BBBP.

There was fund release of Rs. 295.3895 lakhs for Maharashtra and Rs. 262.9073 lakhs for Jammu & Kashmir under BBBP during 2017-18. Maharashtra and Jammu & Kashmir accounted for 8.9% and 7.92% respectively of the total fund released in India under BBBP during 2017-18.

Fund released for Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi was Rs. 245.6982, 112.92536, 101.81755, 101.29506 and 97.85887 lakhs respectively under BBBP during 2017-18. The above mentioned top 10 States/UTs accounted for 81.73% of the total fund released in India as a whole under BBBP during 2017-18.
