Total funds released for capacity building of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) was Rs. 621.72 crore during 2017-18, up by 6.03% versus Rs. 586.39 crore during 201617. The top 10 States/UTs in terms of funds released for capacity building of PRIs under RGSA during 2017-18 were Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh.
For capacity building of PRIs under RGSA, fund released was Rs. 84.07 crore for Uttar Pradesh during 2017-18, which accounted 13.52% of the total funds released for the same during 2017-18. Annual growth of 110.9% has been observed in fund released for Uttar Pradesh during 2017-18 for capacity building of PRIs under RGSA from Rs. 39.87 crore during 2016-17. There was fund release of Rs. 81.35 crore for Andhra Pradesh for capacity building of PRIs under RGSA during 2017-18. It accounted 13.08% of the total funds released for capacity building of PRIs under RGSA during the same financial year. We have seen annual de-growth of -11.2% in fund released for Andhra Pradesh during 2017-18 for capacity building of PRIs under RGSA from Rs. 91.61 crore during 2016-17.
Fund released for capacity building of PRIs under RGSA was Rs. 48.44 crore for West Bengal during 2017-18, which accounted 7.79% of the total funds released for the same during 2017-18. Annual growth of 121.6% has been observed in fund released for West Bengal during 2017-18 for capacity building of PRIs under RGSA from Rs. 21.86 crore during 2016-17. For capacity building of PRIs under RGSA; fund released was Rs. 47.16 crore and Rs. 20.9 crore for Jharkhand during 2017-18 and 2016-17 respectively, and Rs. 44.53 crore and Rs. 21.17 crore for Maharashtra during 2017-18 and 2016-17 respectively. Jharkhand and Maharashtra accounted for 7.59% and 7.16% respectively of the total funds released for capacity building of PRIs under RGSA during 2017-18.
There was fund release of Rs. 41.08, Rs. 36.83, Rs. 33.21, Rs. 32.9 and Rs. 30.25 crore for Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh respectively for capacity building of Panchayati Raj Institutions under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan during 2017-18.
The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 77.18% of the total funds released for capacity building of Panchayati Raj Institutions under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan as a whole during 2017-18.
