Top 10 States/UTs in terms of farmers insured under Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojana during Rabi 2016-17

The number of farmers insured under PMFBY (Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojana) during Rabi 2016-17 was 172.74963 lakhs, with insured area of 211.84603 lakhs hectare. The top 10 States/UTs in terms of number of farmers insured under PMFBY during Rabi 2016-17 were Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Karnataka, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Haryana and Telengana.

There were 36.26 lakhs farmers insured in Uttar Pradesh under PMFBY during Rabi 2016-17, with insured area of 33.23 lakhs hectare. The number of farmers insured under PMFBY in Rajasthan was 30.76 lakhs during Rabi 2016-17, with insured area of 28.84 lakhs hectare. There were 30.51 lakhs farmers insured in Madhya Pradesh under PMFBY during Rabi 2016-17, with insured area of 58.19 lakhs hectare.

The number of farmers insured under PMFBY in Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Karnataka, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Haryana and Telengana was 15.19, 12.34, 11.79, 10.69, 8.28, 5.76 and 2.3 lakhs respectively during Rabi 2016-17. The area insured under PMFBY in Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Karnataka, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Haryana and Telengana was 12.56, 11.9, 16.82, 5.17, 3.86, 9.07 and 2.38 lakhs hectare respectively during Rabi 2016-17.
