Top 10 States under Central Funds Released for MGNREGA during 2016-17 as on 16.11.2016

The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 2005 provide for the enhancement of livelihood security of the households in rural areas of the country by providing at least one hundred days of guaranteed wage employment in every financial year to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work.

The central funds released for MGNREGA in India was Rs. 3687395.74 lakhs during 2016-17 as on 16.11.2016. The top 10 states in terms of the central funds released for MGNREGA during 2016-17 as on 16.11.2016 were: West Bengal, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

The central funds released for MGNREGA in West Bengal was Rs. 394528.98 lakhs during 2016-17. It was 10.70% of the central funds released for MGNREGA in India during 2016-17. The central funds released for MGNREGA in Rajasthan was Rs. 357159.15 lakhs during 2016-17. It was 9.69% of the central funds released for MGNREGA in India during 2016-17. The central funds released for MGNREGA in Andhra Pradesh was Rs. 355592.02 lakhs during 2016-17. It was 9.64% of the central funds released for MGNREGA in India during 2016-17. The central funds released for MGNREGA in Tamil Nadu was Rs. 330298.08 lakhs during 2016-17. It was 8.96% of the central funds released for MGNREGA in India during 2016-17. The central funds released for MGNREGA in Uttar Pradesh was Rs. 274195.21 lakhs during 2016-17. It was 7.44% of the central funds released for MGNREGA in India during 2016-17.

These top 5 states accounted for 46.42% of the total central funds released for MGNREGA in India as a whole during 2016-17 as on 16.11.2016.

The central funds released for MGNREGA in Madhya Pradesh was Rs. 252252.95 lakhs during 2016-17 (6.84% of All India). The central funds released for MGNREGA in Chhattisgarh was Rs. 183272.13 lakhs during 2016-17 (4.97% of All India). The central funds released for MGNREGA in Telangana was Rs. 149993.87 lakhs during 2016-17 (4.07% of All India). The central funds released for MGNREGA in Karnataka was Rs. 149754.84 lakhs during 2016-17 (4.06% of All India). The central funds released for MGNREGA in Maharashtra was Rs. 143949.27 lakhs during 2016-17 (3.9% of All India).

The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 70.27% of the total central funds released for MGNREGA in India as a whole during 2016-17 as on 16.11.2016.
