Aam Admi Bima Yojana came into effect from 01.01.2013 with the following main features: insurance cover of Rs.30,000 & Permanent Total Disability/ death due to accident cover of Rs.75,000 and Free Add-on benefit of scholarship of Rs.100/- per month for each child to a maximum of two children of the beneficiary studying between 9th to 12th Standard.
All the States and UTs of India, put together, have paid total number of 28896 claims under Aam Admi Bima Yojana as on 30th September, 2014. The amount paid was Rs. 958414 crores for settling these claims.
Top 10 States/UTs in number of claims paid as on 30th September, 2014 were: Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Orissa.
In Andhra Pradesh, total number of claims paid under Aam Admi Bima Yojana was 15660 which was 54.19% of the total number of claims paid under Aam Admi Bima Yojana in the entire country. The total amount paid was Rs. 513195 thousand which was 53.55% of the total amount paid under Aam Admi Bima Yojana in India. In Maharashtra, total number of claims paid under Aam Admi Bima Yojana was 2597 which was 8.99% of the total number of claims paid under Aam Admi Bima Yojana in the entire country. The total amount paid was Rs. 86700 thousand which was 9.05% of the total amount paid under Aam Admi Bima Yojana in India. In Rajasthan, total number of claims paid under Aam Admi Bima Yojana was 2380 which was 8.24% of the total number of claims paid under Aam Admi Bima Yojana in the entire country. The total amount paid was Rs. 74542 thousand which was 7.78% of the total amount paid under Aam Admi Bima Yojana in India.
