Top 10 States in Funds released under National Old Age Pension Scheme (NOAPS) during 2015-16

Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) or National Old Age Pension Scheme (NOAPS) is a social sector scheme and forms part of the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) which came into effect from 15th August, 1995. This scheme provides social assistance for the old age persons.

Funds released under IGNOAPS was Rs. 556269.0696 lakhs during 2015. The top 10 states in terms of the funds released for during 2015-16 were: Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Funds released for IGNOAPS in Bihar was Rs. 109065.17 lakhs during 2015-16. It was 19.6% of the funds released for IGNOAPS in India during 2015-16. Funds released for IGNOAPS in Uttar Pradesh was Rs. 70802.98 lakhs during 2015-16. It was 12.7% of the funds released for IGNOAPS in India during 2015-16. Funds released for IGNOAPS in Odisha was Rs. 51326.76 lakhs during 2015-16. It was 9.2% of the funds released for IGNOAPS in India during 2015-16.

Funds released for IGNOAPS in Madhya Pradesh was Rs. 49989.67 lakhs during 2015-16. It was 9.0% of the funds released for IGNOAPS in India during 2015-16. Funds released for IGNOAPS in West Bengal was Rs. 43209.97 lakhs during 2015-16. It was 7.8% of the funds released for IGNOAPS in India during 2015-16.

These top 5 states accounted for 58.3% of the total funds released during 2015-16.
