Top 10 States in Construction of Individual Household Latrines in 2015-16

The number of individual household latrines (IHHLs) constructed in India as a whole was 12741367 in 2015-16. It had shown an increase of 6887511 in the number of individual household latrines constructed as compared to the year 2014-15. The top 10 states in terms of the number of individual household latrines constructed were: Rajasthan, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Assam in 2015-16.

The number of individual household latrines constructed in Rajasthan was 2164590 in 2015-16. It accounted for 16.99% of the number of individual household latrines constructed in India in 2015-16. It had shown an increase of 1511316 in the number of individual household latrines constructed as compared to the year 2014-15.

The number of individual household latrines constructed in West Bengal was 1432065 in 2015-16. It accounted for 11.24% of the number of individual household latrines constructed in India in 2015-16. It had shown an increase of 586597 in the number of individual household latrines constructed as compared to the year 2014-15. The number of individual household latrines constructed in Odisha was 1329832 in 2015-16. It accounted for 10.44% of the number of individual household latrines constructed in India in 2015-16. It had shown an increase of 1197369 in the number of individual household latrines constructed as compared to the year 2014-15.

The number of individual household latrines constructed in Madhya Pradesh was 1022566 in 2015-16. It accounted for 8.03% of the number of individual household latrines constructed in India in 2015-16. It had shown an increase of 496032 in the number of individual household latrines constructed as compared to the year 2014-15. The number of individual household latrines constructed in Tamil Nadu was 948287 in 2015-16. It accounted for 7.44% of the number of individual household latrines constructed in India in 2015-16. It had shown an increase of 573171 in the number of individual household latrines constructed as compared to the year 2014-15.

These top 5 states accounted for 54.14% of the total number of individual household latrines constructed in India as a whole in 2015-16.

The number of individual household latrines constructed in Gujarat was 922728 in 2015-16 (7.24% of All India). The number of individual household latrines constructed in Maharashtra was 889170 in 2015-16 (6.98% of All India). The number of individual household latrines constructed in Uttar Pradesh was 694487 in 2015-16 (5.45% of All India). The number of individual household latrines constructed in Karnataka was 533011 in 2015-16 (4.18% of All India). The number of individual household latrines constructed in Assam was 465545 in 2015-16 (3.65% of All India).

The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 81.64% of the total number of individual household latrines constructed in India as a whole in 2015-16.
