Top 10 Public Sector Banks in ATMs Installation during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016

Public Sector Banks are shaping the economic contours of our county and have been contributing to the economic growth of the Indian economy, in tandem with the policies of the Government of India. They have expanded the network of the ATMs at very expeditious speed to expand and serve the 24X7 economy and in turn reduce the burden of the cash transactions on the bank branches on one hand; and to reduce the amount of cash in the economy/ with the general public. Public Sector Banks have taken a lead in installing ATMs in every nook and corner of the country.

The number of ATMs installation by all Public Sector Banks in India was 3275 during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016. The top 10 banks in terms of the number of ATMs installation were: State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Andhra Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, UCO Bank, Central Bank of India, IDBI Bank, Vijaya Bank and Syndicate Bank during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016.

The number of ATMs installation by State Bank of India was 1115 during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016. It accounted for 34.05% of the number of ATMs installation by all Public Sector Banks in India during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016. The number of ATMs installation by Punjab National Bank was 579 during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016. It accounted for 17.68% of the number of ATMs installation by all Public Sector Banks in India during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016. The number of ATMs installation by Andhra Bank was 295 during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016. It accounted for 9.01% of the number of ATMs installation by all Public Sector Banks in India during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016.

The number of ATMs installation by Bank of Baroda was 270 during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016. It accounted for 8.24% of the number of ATMs installation by all Public Sector Banks in India during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016. The number of ATMs installation by Canara Bank was 260 during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016. It accounted for 7.94% of the number of ATMs installation by all Public Sector Banks in India during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016.

These top 5 banks accounted for 76.92% of the total number of ATMs installation by all Public Sector Banks in India as a whole during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016.

The number of ATMs installation by UCO Bank was 147 during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016 (4.49% of All India). The number of ATMs installation by Central Bank of India was 114 during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016 (3.48% of All India). The number of ATMs installation by IDBI Bank was 85 during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016 (2.6% of All India). The number of ATMs installation by Vijaya Bank was 67 during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016 (2.05% of All India). The number of ATMs installation by Syndicate Bank was 59 during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016 (1.8% of All India).

The above mentioned top 10 banks accounted for 91.34% of the total number of ATMs installation by all Public Sector Banks in India as a whole during the Quarter from January 2016 to March 2016.

Note: 1. Data are based on quarterly information provided by 27 PSBs; 2. Special Category Branches such as Service Branch, Zonal/Regional Offices, Authorised Dealing Centres, etc. are excluded for this purpose by the banks.
