The top 10 districts in Tamil Nadu in terms of percentage of households using clean fuel for cooking during 2015-16 (NFHS-4) were Chennai, Tiruppur, Erode, Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur, Namakkal, Coimbatore, Vellore, Karur and Salem. Chennai district had the maximum percentage of households using clean fuel for cooking during 2015-16, i.e., 96.7%.
The districts namely Tiruppur, Erode, Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur, Namakkal, Coimbatore, Vellore, Karur and Salem had 90.5%, 87.4%, 86.7%, 86.3%, 85.3%, 85.1%, 78.2%, 77.6% and 76.6% respectively of households using clean fuel for cooking during 2015-16.
The bottom 5 districts in Tamil Nadu in terms of less percentage of households using clean fuel for cooking during 2015-16 (NFHS-4) were Pudukkottai, Thiruvarur, Ariyalur, Thanjavur and Cuddalore with 38.9%, 44.2%, 44.7%, 47.3% and 52.8% respectively.
