The 10 States/UTs with highest level of deficit in peak power demand and peak power supply during April13 -Mar14 are: Maharashtra having deficit of 1655 MW i.e. 8.6% (with peak requirement of 19276 MW and peak power availability of 17621); Punjab having deficit of 1356 MW i.e. 13.4% (with peak requirement of 10089 MW and peak power availability of 8733); Tamil Nadu having deficit of 1030 MW i.e. 7.6% (with peak requirement of 13522 MW and peak power availability of 12492); Andhra Pradesh having deficit of 910 MW i.e. 6.5% (with peak requirement of 14072 MW and peak power availability of 13162); Uttar Pradesh having deficit of 762 MW i.e. 5.8% (with peak requirement of 13089 MW and peak power availability of 12327); Karnataka having deficit of 717 MW i.e. 7.2% (with peak requirement of 9940 MW and peak power availability of 9223); Jammu & Kashmir having deficit of 502 MW i.e. 20.1% (with peak requirement of 2500 MW and peak power availability of 1998); Delhi having deficit of 382 MW i.e. 6.3% (with peak requirement of 6035 MW and peak power availability of 5653); Himachal Pradesh having deficit of 169 MW i.e. 10.8% (with peak requirement of 1561 MW and peak power availability of 1392); and Bihar having deficit of 153 MW i.e. 6.2% (with peak requirement of 2465 MW and peak power availability of 2312).
At all India level, peak power demand and peak power supply had a deficit of 6103 Megawatt (MW) i.e. 4.5% (with peak requirement of 135918 MW and peak power availability of 129815) during April 2013 –March 2014.
Note: Both peak met and energy availability represent the net consumption (including the transmission losses) in the various States. Net export has been accounted for in the consumption of importing States.
