Subsidies Extended on Phosphatic & Potassic (P&K) Fertilizers during 2015-16 to 2018-19

The Government is implementing Nutrient Based Subsidy (NBS) Scheme w.e.f. 1.4.2010. Under the said Scheme, a fixed amount of subsidy decided on annual basis, is provided on each grade of subsidized Phosphatic & Potassic (P&K) fertilizers of FCO standards, depending upon its Nutrient Content.

Subsidy of Rs. 11969 crore was being extended on indigenous P&K during 2015-16. It has decreased by 105 basis points during 2016-17 above 2015-16. We have seen annual growth of 21.06% in subsidy extended on indigenous P&K to Rs. 14337 crore during 2017-18 against Rs. 11842.88 crore during 2016-17. During 2018-19 (as on 24.12.2018), amount of Rs. 13640.61 crore was being extended as subsidy on indigenous P&K. Maximum amount of Rs. 14337 crore has been found in 2017-18 in subsidy extended on indigenous P&K during the period under consideration.

Subsidy of Rs. 9968.56 crore was being extended on imported P&K during 2015-16. It has decreased by -29.78% during 2016-17 above 2015-16. Annual growth of 12.86% has been observed in subsidy extended on imported P&K from Rs. 6999.99 crore during 2016-17 to Rs. 7900 crore during 2017-18. During 2018-19 (as on 24.12.2018), amount of Rs. 8775.98 crore was being extended as subsidy on imported P&K. Maximum amount of Rs. 9968.56 crore has been seen in 2015-16 in subsidy extended on imported P&K during the period under consideration.
