India has witnessed an increasing trend in production of eggs from 2009-10 to 2015-16. There was a compound annual growth rate of 5.5% from 6024.4 ten million during 2009-10 to 8292.9 ten million during 2015-16. We have seen annual growth of 4.99% and 5.66% in production of eggs during 2014-15 and 2015-16 respectively over the previous year. The top 10 States/UTs in terms of production of eggs during 2015-16 were: Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Haryana, Karnataka, Punjab, Kerala and Uttar Pradesh.
Production of eggs in Tamil Nadu was 1612.5 ten million during 2015-16. It accounted 19.44% of the total eggs produced in India during the year. We have seen a growth of 1.26% in production of eggs in Tamil Nadu during 2015-16 over 2014-15. Production of eggs in Andhra Pradesh was 1417.4 ten million during 2015-16. It accounted 17.09% of the total eggs produced in India during the year. We have seen a growth of 8.23% in production of eggs in Andhra Pradesh during 2015-16 over 2014-15. Production of eggs in Telangana was 1120.6 ten million during 2015-16. It accounted 13.51% of the total eggs produced in India during the year. We have seen a growth of 5.53% in production of eggs in Telangana during 2015-16 over 2014-15. Production of eggs in West Bengal was 601.1 ten million during 2015-16. It accounted 7.25% of the total eggs produced in India during the year. We have seen a growth of 24.86% in production of eggs in West Bengal during 2015-16 over 2014-15. Production of eggs in Maharashtra was 528.6 ten million during 2015-16. It accounted 6.37% of the total eggs produced in India during the year. We have seen a growth of 4.08% in production of eggs in Maharashtra during 2015-16 over 2014-15.
These top 5 states accounted for 63.67% of the total eggs produced in India as a whole during 2015-16.
During 2015-16, 491.3 ten million eggs produced in Haryana, which accounted 5.92% of the total eggs produced in India. During 2015-16, 476.6 ten million eggs produced in Karnataka, which accounted 5.75% of the total eggs produced in India. During 2015-16, 442.2 ten million eggs produced in Punjab, which accounted 5.33% of the total eggs produced in India. During 2015-16, 244.3 ten million eggs produced in Kerala, which accounted 2.95% of the total eggs produced in India. During 2015-16, 219.3 ten million eggs produced in Uttar Pradesh, which accounted 2.64% of the total eggs produced in India.
The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 86.27% of the total eggs produced in India as a whole during the year 2015-16.
