State/UT-wise percentage of mothers who had antenatal check-up in first trimester during 2015-16

As per NFHS-4, percentage of mothers who had antenatal check-up in first trimester increased in India from 43.9% in 2005-06 (NFHS-3) to 58.6% in 2015-16. Percentage of mothers who had antenatal check-up in first trimester in rural areas was 54.2% in 2015-16 and in urban areas, percentage of mothers who had antenatal check-up in first trimester was 69.1% in 2015-16.
 
Kerala had highest percentage of mothers who had antenatal check-up in first trimester (95.1%) during 2015-16 and 91.9% was in 2005-06. Nagaland had lowest percentage of mothers who had antenatal check-up in first trimester (24.9%) during 2015-16 and 29.2% was in 2005-06 in comparison to other states.
 
Ten States/UTs viz. Assam (55.1%), West Bengal (54.9%), Uttarakhand (53.5%), Meghalaya (53.3%), Madhya Pradesh (53.1%), Jharkhand (52%), Uttar Pradesh (45.9%), Arunachal Pradesh (37%), Bihar (34.6%) and Nagaland (24.9%) were below the National value i.e. 58.6% during 2015-16.
