According to NFHS-4; there are 43.8% households who have used clean fuel for cooking during 2015-16 in India. Whereas according to NFHS-3; there were 25.5% households who had used clean fuel for cooking during 2005-06 in India.
The Top 5 States/UTs in terms of having highest percentage of households using clean fuel for cooking during 2015-16 are Delhi, Chandigarh, Puducherry, Goa and, Daman and Diu. According to NFHS-4; Delhi, Chandigarh, Puducherry, Goa and, Daman and Diu have 97.7%, 93.9%, 84.8%, 84.1% and 73.6% respectively households using clean fuel for cooking during 2015-16. According to NFHS-3, Delhi had the highest 79.6% households using clean fuel for cooking during 2005-06.
The Bottom 5 States/UTs in terms of having lowest percentage of households using clean fuel for cooking during 2015-16 are Bihar with 17.8%, Jharkhand with 18.9%, Odisha with 19.2%, Meghalaya with 21.8% and Chattisgarh with 22.8%. According to NFHS-3, Odisha had the lowest 9.8% households using clean fuel for cooking during 2005-06.
