State/UT-wise Percentage of Children (under age 5 years) whose birth was registered during 2015-16

79.7% Children (under age 5 years) whose birth was registered during 2015-16 (NFHS-4) in India. Whereas during 2005-06 (NFHS-3), 41.2% Children (under age 5 years) whose birth was registered in India. According to NFHS-4 report; Children (under age 5 years) whose birth was registered in rural areas of India and urban areas of India were 76.1% and 88.8% respectively.

There were 27 States/UTs which seen above the All India (79.7%) percentage of Children (under age 5 years) whose birth was registered during 2015-16. Lakshadweep and Puducherry had the highest, i.e., 99% Children (under age 5 years) whose birth was registered during 2015-16. The remaining 25 States/UTs which seen above the All India (79.7%) percentage of Children (under age 5 years) whose birth was registered during 2015-16 were: Goa, Sikkim, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Mizoram, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala, West Bengal, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Karnataka, Assam, Haryana, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Tripura, Daman and Diu, Delhi, Chattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Meghalaya.

There were 9 States/UTs which seen below the All India (79.7%) percentage of Children (under age 5 years) whose birth was registered during 2015-16. Uttar Pradesh had the lowest, i.e., 60.2% Children (under age 5 years) whose birth was registered during 2015-16. The remaining 8 States/UTs which seen below the All India (79.7%) percentage of Children (under age 5 years) whose birth was registered during 2015-16 were: Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Nagaland, Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir.
