Ministry of Human Resource Development had initiated an All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) in 2011 to prepare a sound database on Higher Education in the country. The survey covers all the institutions in the country engaged in imparting the higher education. It is getting updated from the annual data submitted by the institutions.The number of Other Backward Classes (OBC) female students availing scholarship for higher education in All India in 2012-2013 was 956137. The Top 3 State/UTs with the maximum number of OBC female students getting scholarship in 2012-2013 were: Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.The number of OBC female students availing scholarship for higher education in Maharashtra in 2012-2013 was 166620. Thus, the percentage of OBC female students availing scholarship for higher education in Maharashtra was 17.4% of total OBC female students availing scholarship for higher education in India in 2012-13. The number of OBC female students availing scholarship for higher education in Tamil Nadu in 2012-2013 was 157350. Thus, the percentage of OBC female students availing scholarship for higher education in Tamil Nadu was 16.5% of total OBC female students availing scholarship for higher education in India in 2012-13. The number of OBC female students availing scholarship for higher education in Uttar Pradesh in 2012-2013 was 127976. Thus, the percentage of OBC female students availing scholarship for higher education in Uttar Pradesh was 13.4% of total OBC female students availing scholarship for higher education in India in 2012-13.
