State/UT-wise number of LPG Distributors in India as on 01.10.2016

In order to ensure availability and accessibility of LPG, Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) appoint new LPG distributors based on market feasibility.

As on 01.10.2016, Number of LPG distributorship allotted in India was 18214. The top 10 States/UTs in terms of number of LPG Distributorship allotted as on 01.10.2016 were: Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat.

The number of LPG distributorship allotted in Uttar Pradesh was 2863 as on 01.10.2016. It accounted for 15.72% of the total number of LPG distributorship allotted in India. The number of LPG distributorship allotted in Maharashtra was 1719 as on 01.10.2016. It accounted for 9.44% of the total number of LPG distributorship allotted in India. The number of LPG distributorship allotted in Madhya Pradesh was 1218 as on 01.10.2016. It accounted for 6.69% of the total number of LPG distributorship allotted in India. The number of LPG distributorship allotted in Tamil Nadu was 1147 as on 01.10.2016. It accounted for 6.3% of the total number of LPG distributorship allotted in India. The number of LPG distributorship allotted in Bihar was 1059 as on 01.10.2016. It accounted for 5.81% of the total number of LPG distributorship allotted in India.

These top 5 states accounted for 43.96% of the total number of LPG distributorship allotted in India as a whole as on 01.10.2016.

Number of LPG distributorship allotted in Rajasthan was 1046 as on 01.10.2016 (5.74% of All India). Number of LPG distributorship allotted in West Bengal was 952 as on 01.10.2016 (5.23% of All India). Number of LPG distributorship allotted in Karnataka was 952 as on 01.10.2016 (5.23% of All India). Number of LPG distributorship allotted in Andhra Pradesh was 855 as on 01.10.2016 (4.69% of All India). Number of LPG distributorship allotted in Gujarat was 752 as on 01.10.2016 (4.13% of All India).

The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 68.97% of the total number of LPG distributorship allotted in India as a whole as on 01.10.2016.
