Decreasing trend seen in India in Infant Mortality Rate (68 in 2000 and 44 in 2011). Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh States have the higher Infant Mortality Rate in both 2000 and 2011 in comparison to other States. Madhya Pradesh has the highest Infant Mortality Rate 87 in 2000 and 59 in 2011 with decreasing trend. Seven States viz. Assam, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Meghalaya are above the National estimate (44) in 2011.
