India has witnessed an increasing trend in fatal road accidents during 2003-2012. In 2003, fatal road accident was 73589 across the country, which increased to 123093 in 2012. Highest fatal road accident (15072) was in Tamil Nadu in 2012 and 8616 in Andhra Pradesh in 2003 as compared to other states. The lowest fatal road accident (24) was in Nagaland and Andaman & Nicobar Islands in 2012 and 0 in Lakshadweep in 2003 as compared to other states.
Note: Fatal accident is an accident that causes someone to die.
