The Crude Birth Rate of India decreased from 25.4 in 2001 to 21.8 in 2011 showing decrease of 3.6. BIMARU states have the higher Crude Birth Rate in both 2001 and 2011 in comparison to other states. In BIMARU states, Uttar Pradesh has the highest crude birth rate (32.1 in 2001 and 27.8 in 2011). Nine States and UTs viz. Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Meghalaya, D&N Haveli are above the national estimate (21.8) in 2011.
